Crushed...... Rock?

Royalty-Free (RF) Clip Art Illustration of a Cartoon Rock Falling Over A Businessman

I received a call from our Csc today to check how we were going with our final plans and to tell you the truth they were pretty good we only had 2 problems with them and they have been fixed :)

Also she rang to tell me that our site supervisor has been out to the block( no name yet) and has said that we need Crushed rock on the front of our block to provide better access to the site as it is really soft, we can either do it ourselves or get metricon to do it for a fee of $850(are they serious) well it seems they are so i have rang some company's and got a quote for 10m3 of crushed rock which is what they are saying we need( Tristan thinks this is quiet alot as its only for the front of the block) i have been quoted $44.60 per m3 delivered which sounds pretty good to me and Tristan and he's work boys will laying it down so either $446 to do our slefs or $850 for metricon to do, i think we are going to do this our selves.

But this is not the only thing that our new site supervisor has said, he has also said that there are no pegs in which is a load of bullocks because we went looking for these only a couple of weeks ago, no they are not easy to find, but they ARE there, so we will go out to the block tonight to make these a little more obvious (i intended to take a bright yellow spray can with me, there wont be no missing them then) :) If they were to do a re-establishment survey it would cost $1190.

Kate said that we will be at site next week, and if not at least the week after, but i am not holding my breath.

Isn't it amazing that everything goes the builders way cost wise!!

I painted our site pegs white and we put extra stakes in them to show them clearly.

We could be on site together yet Tash!

Tash are you sure you have to pay for the rocks? Our site didn't have the rocks but Metricon put them there when building began..and we didn't have to pay anything..unless it was already included in our contract?? hmmm...

That's rubbish, Metricon had included it into my site works allowance, and they should have done the same with you. The only thing I'm thinking is that they do it differently down there. I'm in QLD, and I've seen vast difference, to say the least.

I'm with the others Tash, rock should be included in site costs. Can't find pegs - another easy $ for them. Keep positive, maybe a start before Easter?

Bad news guys we have just got back from the block and it seems that one of our pegs has gone walk about our front left peg is gone, Tristan was elbow deep in mud looking for it, it was there a few weeks ago and now gone :(
Janine I can't remember if both the front pegs are ment to have our numbers on it?? Our back ones don't have any numbers?

Chicky, did you go for fixed site costs?? If so, the crushed rock should definitely be included.

Boo for the missing peg. Looks a bit sus that it WAS there. It's not like it would grow legs of its own. Do you know your neighbour on that side, coz they will have the same issue, and perhaps you can share the survey cost (if it comes to that).

As soon as you get on site, all of these little issues seem to disappear, so hopefully you have a completely trouble free build!

Yeh we do have fixed site cost but for some unkown reason they do not seem to think that this is covered under that, arrgg they are so annoying!!

I know i just cant beleive that the peg was there and now its not im hoping that one missing peg doesnt cause me to many problems, we dont know the people on the other side as that part of Chantenay pde isnt complete yet :( Just seems to be one thing after another atm!!

I hope they all do dissapear i dont know how much longer i cant take all this stress!!

You technically don't need all your pegs, as long as you have at two, the earthworks guys can reference of the existing pegs. I had only 1 on my block but also had a fenceline to reference from, and my block isn't even rectangular. So they were able to work out the location of my slab. I wouldn't pay for the surveying setout, even a person with brains would be able to work that out. It turns out your SS has none.

How's your painting skills. Go buy a peg, paint it, and knock it in the ground. Oh and measure it with a tape measure, so you get the right location.

JayJay, thats exactly what i was thinking, why would they need the last peg really they have one to go off at the back and one at the front they need to measure 14m across it cant be that hard can it?? Im going to talk to my Csc this morning hopfuly not a big issue, as there is still one of the pegs that was sitting next to where it was, its just the actually one with the numbers on it missing!! Im a pretty good painter i reckon lol and this did go through my mind last night its only that the numbers that are printed on the front ones would be the problem!

Tash, do yourself a favour and dont waste your money. That is absolute rubbish, for you to provide crush rock. As soon as you put it down it will be wasted , because they will do a site scrape. We were told that at the start of our too, but we never did it.

10 metres is a rediculous amount to have just to provide access to the property. You could put that amount over the entire site. (My guess is they will use it to put down the base for underneath the slab at your expense. They didn't put any under ours, probably because i didn't supply it, now that i read your post).

As for your pegs Tash the back ones dont have numbers on them, only the front ones do.
